dc.description.abstract"This study seeks to explore new sources of water supply in view of the present deficit in the city of San Luis Potosí. The Villa Hidalgo valley is located 35 km northeast of the capital state and has been defined as an under-exploited aquifer according to the CNA, 2002. But there is not enough information to determine the aquifer’s state and a bad diagnostic could lead to a bad management. A methodology composed for four different geophysical methods (aerial magnetometry, land magnetometry, vertical electrical soundings and controlled source audiomagnetotellurics surveys) to determine the physical properties of the rocks and determine the ground structures of the valley. Found that there are two aquifers, a shallow compound lacustrine sediments and fractured igneous rocks, with average thickness of 100 meters, and a deep (300 meters deep) contained in limestone with a thickness of 300 to over 500 meters which is envisaged as a high potential, and it could be a source to Villa Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí."
