dc.description.abstract"In this thesis, we model the development of the arterial vascular tree of the kidney using the graph theory and including physiological information of the arterial bifurcation. The kidney is one of the most complex organ in terms of structure and physiology, in part because of its vasularity. The development of the arterial vascular tree of the kidney occurs through angiogenesis, i. e., the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vessels. There are two processes of angiogenesis: sprouting and splitting. The development of the arterial vascular tree of the kidney is modeled incorporating physiological parameters on base of experimental data previously published. The results show that it is possible to include the angiological function in the graph to model the morphology of the renal arterial vascular tree. The average length in each segment of the morphology of the trees have intersection with experimental results. The average width of the arterial vascular tree of kidney of the trees generated is within the experimental range. The fractal dimension of the arterial vascular tree of the kidney depends of the contribution of sproutin and splitting angiogenesis, i. e., of the distribution of blood vessels. That is, the fractal dimension can provide informatión if the kidney has the appropriate morphology to perform their functions."
